Startup Challenge Monterey Bay

Startup Challenge Monterey Bay (SCMB) is a regional new business competition and acceleration program for entrepreneurs in Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz counties. The Challenge is held annually, organized by a team of community volunteers and hosted by the Institute for Innovation and Economic Development of CSU, Monterey Bay. It is a competitive acceleration process that teaches, coaches, mentors, networks, and connects entrepreneurs to the knowledge and resources they need. Prospective entrepreneurs, start-ups and emerging companies showcase and develop their business concepts while competing for prizes. The Challenge provides workshops and mentoring to support the founding, funding and growth of new and innovative businesses in the Monterey Bay region. The Challenge empowers entrepreneurs to communicate their ideas effectively to investors, customers and employees.

Startup Weekend

At Startup Weekend Monterey Bay, you’ll be immersed in the ideal environment for startup magic to happen. Aspiring entrepreneurs will work together to build startups in one chaotic weekend. The ultimate hands-on learning experience, SWMB allows innovators from all disciplines team up for an intensive experience in building businesses.

Institute for Innovation and Economic Development

Sponsored by the U.S. Economic Development Administration, the Institute for Innovation and Economic Development (iiED) is a collaboration between California State University, Monterey Bay and the Monterey County Business Council, working together to research, create innovating business projects, and support students and entrepreneurs alike in their creative quest for business opportunities.

The Institute focuses on the need for more jobs opportunities in the region and for our graduating students. We offer programs that work toward developing entrepreneurs and supporting innovative ideas that lead to new business opportunities. iiED looks within the university and local research institutions to establish projects that assist students, investors, and entrepreneurs in successful internships, resources, and project development.

Startup Monterey Bay Tech Meetup

A Meetup where entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs, innovators, local start-ups, and businesses can meet, learn, tell others about what you’re up to, find out what they’re up to, and enjoy the camaraderie with other entrepreneurs. Investors, entrepreneurs, local businesses, anyone interested in the latest innovations, trends in business and technology or the latest and greatest ideas should come!

Salinas Ag Tech Meetup

This group to brings the technology, investment, and agricultural worlds together through the rapidly growing ag tech industry while working to provide real life solutions for a more fruitful future. Start-ups and the tech world have amazing ideas and concepts, and investors want to help bring those to the market, but often times they do not have the integration or in-field experience necessary to produce market viable solutions or implementation. We all will work together to discuss and discover products at any stage of the development phase from concept to final product marketing and implementation.

Santa Cruz New Tech Meetup
